Bangladesh opened its first metro rail line in the capital city, Dhaka, on December 28, 2022. The line, partially funded by Japan, connects Dhaka’s centre and a prime neighbourhood. As one of the most densely populated cities in the world, Dhaka and its over 20 million residents suffer from traffic congestion. Excited residents waited in a long queue for their rail ride.
