Camilla stuns in white silk dress and striking diamond brooch that belonged to late Queen | Royal | News

Queen Camilla looked elegant in a white crepe silk dress by Anna Valentine as the royal couple stepped out for the first day of their royal tour in Kenya.
Known for her simple yet classic style, the Queen opted for a three-quarter sleeve knee-length dress.
The dress had stunning stitching details down the middle and an open V neck at the top.
Camilla accessorised the dress with a diamond oyster brooch that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth.
It’s a sweet addition by Her Majesty to wear the brooch, as Kenya steeped in links to the former monarch.
Queen Elizabeth was visiting a game preserve in Kenya when she learned that she had become monarch in 1952.
The King and Queen arrived in Kenya on Monday, ready to embark on a four-day state visit.
Today marks their first public appearance in the Commonwealth nation, where they received a ceremonial welcome at the official residence in Nairobi.
They were greeted by Kenya’s President William Ruto and his wife First Lady Rachel Ruto and they each held bilateral meetings following the military pomp.
Charles and Camilla were invited by the President to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its independence from Britain.
The King is having to tread a careful line as he acknowledges the “more painful” aspected of Britain’s colonial relationship with Kenya, particularly the the atrocities perpetuated during the Mau Mau rebellion.

New Look coat reminds us of Duchess Sophie’s | Royal | News

When it comes to winter dressing, the Duchess of Edinburgh has mastered the art of elegant practicality – proving that cold-weather layers can still feel effortlessly chic.
Last week, the Duchess, 61, delivered a masterclass in modern style as she was snapped in Méribel, France, while attending the ISSC Championship in her role as Patron of the UK Armed Forces Winter Sports Association.
The Duchess opted for a sleek padded coat from Prada, estimated to be worth around £3,600 (based on a similar style we found available at MyTheresa). Of course, we haven’t all got a spare £3.6k lying around, but I’ve spotted a coat that offers a similar look for more than £3,000 less.
New Look’s black padded hooded puffer jacket really caught our eye, thanks to a few standout similarities. Both coats are black, padded styles, and while we can’t say for sure they use the same materials (the New Look coat has synthetic filling), shoppers have praised the high street version for keeping the cold at bay. One shopper said: “Really warm and I love the thumb holes in the cuffs”.
We can’t see whether Sophie’s Prada coat has thumb holes, but this practical little detail is a great way to keep your hands extra cosy on chilly days.
Both coats are cut to a flattering hip-length and finished with a black fur collar. The New Look version uses faux fur around the trim, with the main body of the coat, the trim and the lining all made from 100% polyester. It’s available in sizes 6 to 14 and is currently reduced by more than half, down from £79.99.
While the Prada coat is likely to deliver a more luxurious feel, shoppers have been impressed by the value offered by the New Look alternative. One reviewer summed it up perfectly, saying: “Good value for money”.
The main aesthetic difference comes down to the padding. The New Look coat features a single layer of padding, while the high-end version uses stitched chambers, known in fashion circles as baffles, to hold the insulating material.

Shoppers save 92% on £2,795 diamond watch as it drops to £215

The right watch can really make an outfit, transforming a day-to-day look into a standout, chic fashion moment. Now, shoppers are in luck as Debenhams has a huge sale on one of its watches that people are calling ‘so classy’ and ‘encrusted with diamonds’.
The GV2 Bari Diamond-Set Luxury Watch is now down to £214.69 from £2,795 on the Debenhams website, saving buyers a huge 92% on their purchase. This watch is inspired by the picturesque city of Bari in Italy, according to its description, and it comes with a huge range of features to reflect this.
Firstly is its ‘Bari’s sophisticated rectangular mother of pearl’ dial which is embellished with 18 diamonds. It has also been fitted with a pumpkin shaped crown topped with a diamond cut bezel case, according to Debenhams.
With a two-tone bracelet to wrap around the wrist, the watch is also said to be water resistant to 30 metres so there is no need to worry about damaging it. For an alternative, River Island has a cheaper option with the Gold Oval Watch for £46 on its website.
This is a one size fits all design and it has diamante embellishments throughout. Another option is the Vivienne Westwood Little Camberwell 29mm Ladies Watch in Silver for £265 from Goldsmiths.
A little more expensive than the previous options, ths watch is a miniature version of the brand’s best-selling Camberwell watch. It features a circular date window, a tonal dial and a chain link strap that is secured by a butterfly buckle.
The GV2 Bari Diamond-Set Luxury Watch from Debenhams has been rated highly, with one person saying: “Love this watch, so classy and a fab price. Encrusted with diamonds. What more can a girl want.”
Another commented: “Great product and excellent value for money hopefully the wife will like it.” A third said: “Beautiful it fits perfectly, this was an early Christmas gift to myself, very pleased with it.”
Some disagreed, with one shopper saying: “Beautiful watch comfortable to wear. Downside is, it’s rather big for women.” Another commented: “This watch is a stunner. It is chunkier (and quite heavy) than I thought it would be but I guess I should have read the description. The picture makes it look like a small delicate watch. Having said that, I still like it as it is definitely a statement piece. I only gave four it stars because of the size.”

Everything inside Next’s £22 male Grooming box worth £73

Beauty boxes have been a thing for years now, with brands like Look Fantastic and Boots dropping seasonal edits throughout the calendar. Valentine’s Day, in particular, is prime time for them. There’s no shortage of makeup and skincare boxes aimed at women, but when it comes to men, the options still feel pretty thin on the ground. That’s starting to change, though. This year, Next has stepped into the mix with a special Grooming Box for men as part of its Valentine’s Day line-up.
There are other retailers dipping their toes in too, with the likes of John Lewis and ASOS releasing their own men’s beauty and grooming gift boxes. Still, they’re far rarer than the huge selection available for women. With the day of romance creeping up fast, if you’re stuck for a gift idea, a grooming box could be a solid shout for the man in your life who deserves a bit of well-earned me-time. Better still, it won’t break the bank.
The Next Grooming Box retails for £22, but according to Next, it is worth over £73 based on the cost of buying the products individually. That marks a £51 saving – roughly 69%.
As with most beauty boxes, you get a mix of full-size and travel-sized products. It’s ideal if the person you’re buying for likes trying new things without the commitment, or if there’s something they’ve been eyeing up but haven’t quite taken the plunge on yet.
And Next has also released a women’s beauty box to match. You can read my full review of the Beauty Lovers box from Next here.
To put it to the test, I enlisted my partner for the very serious job of unboxing it and giving each item a proper once-over. He considered what you actually get, whether it feels worth the money, and if he thinks it would make a good gift.
The Grooming Box arrives with everything packed neatly inside a sturdy cardboard box. This isn’t your standard plain brown packaging, though. Instead, it’s a vibrant shade of green with a modern yellow and green checkerboard pattern running down the sides. It feels fresh and contemporary, but while it’s been released alongside the Beauty Lovers Valentine’s Box, it’s a little disappointing that the design doesn’t lean more into the Valentine’s theme if you’re planning to gift it on the day itself. That said, on the other hand, it’s neutral enough to work for pretty much any occasion — or even as a self-gift.
One small downside is that, unlike some other Valentine’s beauty bundles (such as the LookFantastic one, which comes in a reusable makeup pouch), the packaging isn’t something you’d necessarily want to keep.
Inside the box, there are six products spanning haircare, skincare and fragrance. A few familiar names jump out straight away, including ESPA, Bath and Bodyworks and Murdock — the latter being a product range from the London-based barbershop chain of the same name.
The first full-sized product is a foaming hand wash from Bath & Bodyworks in the woody, grown-up scent of mahogany teakwood.
“Truthfully, I’m not hugely fussed about hand soap, but since my girlfriend loves this brand, it’s an instant win for us all,” my boyfriend, who has requested to remain anonymous, said.
“Soap is a nice, versatile option, and the unisex scent means it’s something we can pop in the bathroom and all use. I also really like the way these soaps foam.”
Sticking with the theme of freshening up, there’s also a travel-sized body wash from ESPA. “The shower gel is a great size for popping into my bag when I go to the gym or even to chuck in my toiletries bag when we’re going on holiday,” he said.
“You can’t go wrong with a shower gel. That said, this one does have quite a strong smell, and I personally prefer scented products that are a little more subtle as I have fairly sensitive skin.”
Without hesitation, my partner named his standout favourites as the two travel-sized products from Murdock: the 10ml Patchouli cologne and the 50ml Sea Salt Spray.
“Again, the travel size of these two products means they’re super handy for on-the-go,” he said.
“The aftershave smells decadent and woody, and would be a great one for holidays.”
He added: “Sea salt spray is something I already use day-to-day, so it’s great to have a top-up.”
Rounding off the box are two skincare products, both full-sized and fairly easy to slot into most routines. There’s a hydrating sheet mask, which the brand claims will leave skin looking visibly brighter, alongside an age-defence serum from Percy Nobleman, infused with vitamin C and collagen.
“The face sheet mask is a fun addition as it’s not something I’d usually think to do,” said my partner.
“It would make a fun Valentine’s activity to do together with my girlfriend – I’d just have to make sure to buy her one in return.
“I’m also trying to work on a better skincare routine, so along with the Age Defence Serum, it’s nice to be able to try things out. My only concern with both of these items is that I have fairly sensitive skin as so I’d have to test both of them out to see if they work for me.”
