Chelsea given bleak Romeo Lavia injury news after Liverpool transfer battle | Football | Sport
Lavia’s injury verdict only further adds to Chelsea’s fitness woes, having already lost captain Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka this season, while Wesley Fofana, Armando Broja and Benoit Badiashile have been long-term absentees.
Pochettino will have to wait to implement Lavia alongside the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in a midfield that would cost close to £300m in total, though is clearly a huge fan of Lavia and was prepared to spend £58m to gazump Liverpool.
“I think we all know him, his quality, his profile. He’s the perfect player for this project,” Pochettino said after Lavia was announced as a Chelsea player. “We are excited and so happy to add him in the squad.”
