Elvis movie 4 hour version: Baz Luhrmann teases ‘wackadoo’ scenes and concert footage | Films | Entertainment

Published

on

When the Elvis Presley biopic hit cinemas earlier this summer, the film clocked in at 159 minutes, cut down from a four hour cut in the edit. Baz Luhrmann had to fit in over 20 years of The King’s short but busy life through the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Yet the director now plans on releasing a much longer version.

Baz previously told Radio Times: “I would have liked to lean into some of the other things more. There’s so much more. I mean, there’s lots of stuff that I shot like the relationship with the band, I had to pare [that] down, and it’s so interesting how the Colonel [Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks] gets rid of them. [The four hour cut depicted Elvis’] addiction to barbiturates and all of that…What happens is he starts doing wackadoo things, like going down to see [President] Nixon. I had it in there for a while but there just comes a point where you can’t have everything in, so I just tried to track the spirit of the character.” Scenes with The King’s first girlfriend Dixie were also cut.

Yet the director has now teased how his four-hour version of Elvis won’t quite be what fans may have thought.

Speaking with IndieWire at the 2022 Gotham Awards, Baz said: “It’s a directors’ assembly. It’s not a cut. There’s a whole lot of material that adds up to four hours, but I have gone on record now to say not today, not tomorrow, but at some point I would do [it] because Austin did his concerts full out. He did all the numbers. Austin just did it and it was an out of body experience to watch him do those full concerts, so one day I will cut those full concerts together. We just had all the cameras. [Cinematographer] Mandy Walker even got the lenses reproduced from the ’60s and ’70s and ’80s to match exactly everything.”

Whatever the case, Elvis Presley Enterprises certainly seem keen about a four hour version of the film.

During Elvis Week this summer, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, joked to fans: “I don’t want you to ask me about the four hour version of the Elvis movie. We cannot talk about that ok? Now, by the way, there is a rule about that, of something that doesn’t exist because we’re not talking about it. If and when that were to happen, and I have no idea if it’s going to, the requirement’s going to be you’re going to have seen the movie in the theatre at least twice. And the second time, brought someone who’s not an Elvis fan yet okay? So not to say that any of this is going to happen, but these are the things we really can’t talk about.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Ex-Child Actor In Lawsuit

CHANNEL TODAY BROADCASTING CORPORATION

Disgraced rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing fresh allegations of sexually assaulting a minor almost two decades ago.

A former child actor has filed a lawsuit against Combs under the name John Doe, as per TMZ.

The lawsuit alleges that Doe, then a working child artist, attended a Hollywood Hills party in 2007 as a networking event, where he met Combs. The man claimed that the rapper invited him to talk privately about career opportunities.

Once alone, the actor claimed that Combs began to “touch” and “rub” him before allegedly performing oral sex on him while also pleasuring himself.

The documents say that the man told the rapper that his actions were making him uncomfortable, but the rapper persisted.

When he was done, Combs told the man he would “see where they would go from there for the role he had in mind” regarding a future project and then left a room.

The former child actor then said in the lawsuit that he left the room in shock.

Apart from Combs, defendants in the case include the talent agents reportedly hired to represent the man as a child actor, as per USA Today. The filing claims the individuals were negligent to put the actor in a spot to “encounter powerful adult industry figures” when his age would potentially render him “vulnerable to manipulation, coercion, exploitation, and abuse.”

The man also put forward accusations of sexual battery, childhood sexual assault, negligent supervision of a minor, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment in his lawsuit. He is asking for a jury trial as well as an unspecified amount in damages, costs and fees.

Juda Engelmayer, a representative for Combs, called the lawsuit “false and ridiculous” in a statement to USA Today. “He’s just another hater in a long list of people trying to get in on the money gravy train encouraged by personal injury lawyers. Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – and that includes any child! These allegations will be disproved like all the rest,” the statement read.

Combs is presently serving a 50-month sentence for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is also reviewing a case involving Combs.

New Delhi:

The Internet has been abuzz today after Yash Raj Films dropped the teaser for Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-led Alpha. What has also caught attention is that actor Uday Chopra has been credited for the upcoming spy film’s storyline. He is the late Yash Chopra’s son and producer Aditya Chopra’s brother. Uday Chopra is currently CEO of YRF Entertainment and a director at Yash Raj Films.

Internet Reactions

The internet was instantly curious to learn more about Uday Chopra’s involvement with Alpha, touted as one of the biggest spy films of the year.

One user wrote, “Story of Alpha is written by Uday Chopra. Description mein uska naam mention hai.

Another person commented, “Alpha story is by Uday Chopra – no wonder they kept it hidden for so long.”

“First Aditya Chopra wrote the story of #Tiger3 and #War2, destroyed the spy universe beyond repair. Now #Alpha’s story is written by Uday Chopra; looks like it will be the final knell in the coffin. Also, absence of #Sharvari is completely baffling,” added another person.

One user joked, “Uday’s cameo as Ali Bhai in Alpha will be the selling point.”

“Dyk: The story ‘credits’ of #Alpha have been given to Uday Chopra. Talent flows in the genes – is it a behind-the-scenes comeback for Uday? #AliaBhatt #Sharvari (sic),” read another comment.

Uday Chopra has been away from the big screen for a while now. The mention of his name in the film’s story credits has sparked significant curiosity among eagle-eyed audiences, keen to know how much involvement he has had.
