Higher unemployment kills rate hike chances | The Business | ABC News

Australia’s unemployment rate has risen to 3.7 per cent for July, up from 3.5 per cent in June. Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows the number of unemployed people increased by 35,600 while the economy shed 14,600 jobs. Economists say it will give the Reserve Bank more reason to pause interest rates in September. The RBA expects the jobless rate to climb to 4.5 per cent by mid-2025.
