New Delhi:

Javed Akhtar, the veteran lyricist and poet, always loves to speak his mind out. In a recent interview with Cyrus Says, he was asked to share the key lessons he has imparted to his children. Javed Akhtar said that kids always learn by examples, by seeing their elders. He said during the interview, “I don’t think you can give wisdom in a crash course. That’s not possible. Children don’t do what you tell them to do, they do what you do. They see what are your moral values, what are your ideas, what do you appreciate in life. What is important to you? That somehow, through some process of osmosis goes into them.” He added, “Both my children are religious atheist people. In fact Farhan, jo uski betiyaan hai unke birth certificate pe religion ke aage likha hai “not applicable” (Farhan’s daughters’ birth certificate has “not applicable” written in the place of religion.).”

A couple of months back, Javed Akhtar received an honorary doctorate of literature from a  London university. Sharing the news with his Instafam, Farhan Akhtar wrote in the caption, “Proud to have been present when dad received an honorary doctorate of literature at @soasuni London.Congratulations for this well deserved, hard earned recognition of your contribution to the world of writing.” Farhan shared  an image in which Javed Akhtar could be seen in a robe. He was accompanied by wife Shabana Azmi as well. Take a look at the post here:

As Farhan’s elder daughter Shakya completed her graduation degree from Lancaster university, fans were treated to a wholesome picture featuring Javed Akhtar, his first wife Honey Irani, Shabana Azmi, Farhan’s first wife Adhuna Bhabnani, Shibani Dandekar, Shakya. Farhan wrote in the caption, “Congratulations to our graduate, Shakya .. such a proud moment to be there as a family and celebrate your achievement.Onwards and upwards .. the world is yours. Missed you @akiraakhtar @zoieakhtar.” Take a look:

David Dhawan has worked with the biggest names in Bollywood at the peak of his career. From Salman Khan and Govinda to Sanjay Dutt, he has delivered some memorable films. The filmmaker, who is currently busy promoting Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai led by his son, actor Varun Dhawan, opened up about why he never worked with Shah Rukh Khan.

What’s Happening

  • David Dhawan told Pinkvilla,Aisi baat nahi hai (It isn’t like that). I think at one time we were planning to do something together. But I was always busy. Always mere paas do pictures floor mein rahti thi (I always had two films on the floors at that time). So, it was very difficult, you know. But definitely at one stage it was there.”
  • He continued, “Par mere kabhi bhi aisa nahi hai ke main yeh actor ke saath work karunga. Maine jaise Govinda ke saath kiya, Salman ke saath kiya, Sanjay… wohi ho gaya tha hisab kitab (But it’s never been the case that I would only work with a specific actor. As I worked with Govinda, Salman, and Sanjay (Dutt), it just worked out that way).”

Work

On the work front, David Dhawan is gearing up for the release of his film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The teaser of the film was released recently which received significant backlash for the use of AI toddlers speaking about how their mothers might be different, but their father Jass — played by Varun Dhawan — is the same. The mothers of these children are played by Mrunal Thakur as Baani and Pooja Hegde as Preet.

Reacting to the online backlash against the film’s teaser, David Dhawan told ANI, “AI hai hee nahin picture mein… Kya karein kuch alag karein, to banake dekha humne. Theek laga. Kahani bhi ye nahin hai. (There is no AI in the film. We wanted to do something different. We thought it looked ok. The story is also different) It’s just a teaser. You’ll get to know when the songs will come. The picture has got nothing to do (with AI)”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, produced by Ramesh Taurani of Tips Films, is set to be released worldwide on May 22. The film also stars Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Mouni Roy.

Akshay Kumar Reacts To Backlash Over Fake Moustache In Samrat Prithviraj: “I Am Sorry”

Akshay Kumar has finally responded to the criticism surrounding his look in Samrat Prithviraj, particularly the much-discussed fake moustache that drew attention when the film released in 2022.

At the time, many viewers questioned the authenticity of his appearance as the legendary king Prithviraj Chauhan. The historical drama faced backlash from sections of the audience who expected a more natural and convincing portrayal.

Akshay Kumar’s Clarification

Speaking on a podcast shared on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Akshay has addressed the issue and clarified that the decision was not due to a lack of effort on his part.

“See, I’m working on lots of things, lots of films, and lots of looks. Like right now, I have this beard. I took around six weeks to grow it, and during those six weeks, I didn’t work. So it’s not like that,” he said.

The actor went on to explain that the specific moustache style required for Samrat Prithviraj was not something he could grow naturally, which led to the use of a prosthetic.

“In Samrat Prithviraj, the story required a particular kind of moustache, and that kind of moustache cannot grow naturally on my face. So yes, maybe the fake moustache didn’t look good, maybe a lot of people didn’t like it. But at the end of the day, it’s acting. Growing that exact moustache might not be possible for me. But sometimes you have to do it. And if people didn’t like it, then I am sorry,” he added.

About The Film

Released on June 3, 2022, Samrat Prithviraj featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role alongside Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood. The film, backed by Yash Raj Films, was based on the life of the renowned warrior king.
