King Charles faces ‘major threats’ from Prince Andrew | Royal | News

King Charles III is facing “major threats” from his brother, Prince Andrew, according to a royal commentator.
The Duke of York has been keeping a low profile since his bruising legal settlement with Virginia Giuffre.
His mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his military titles and royal patronages back in 2022 amid the civil suit for sexual assault allegations.
The Prince strongly denied any wrongdoing but has not been able to shake himself free of controversy since.
Charles has allowed his brother to remain at the Royal Lodge in Windsor while his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson recovers from breast cancer, but it is understood the King wants him out as part of his plans to slim down the monarchy.
Acclaimed biographer Andrew Lownie told the Daily Beast: “Andrew is digging his heels… it’s part of a wider power and status game with Charles. Optics don’t look good, but that won’t worry Andrew. I don’t see him ever leaving.
“Charles and William have united to bring him down a peg or two and try and keep him and his family under the radar because they, as the future of the monarchy, have most to lose by his antics.”
The Royal Lodge has been the home of Prince Andrew since 2003, when he reportedly signed a 75-year lease for the property.
He currently lives there with his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, despite the couple divorcing in 1996.
But royal commentator Daniella Elser says “ejecting Andrew from the 30-room monster is not some notion His Majesty might forget”.
She added: “Given this, what could or would the duke, backed into a corner and desperate to hang onto this plum bit of his royal identity, resort to?
“All of which is to say, this looks like a fresh disaster-in-waiting for the King and his crisis team.”
However Elser says there is “other news” on the horizon that could be a “major threat” to Buckingham Palace.
She said: “Lownie has revealed that he is working on a book about Andrew and Fergie. Want to know how concerned the Men in Grey should be?
“Lownie is the biographer who first broke the allegations in 2019 that Lord Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle, and King Charles’ adored godfather, had sexually abused teenagers from a boys’ home.
“Then last year, in Lownie’s Traitor King, he revealed that King Edward VIII had helped the Nazis invade France.
“Which is to say, Lownie gets scoops like no other.
“Again, there could be fresh Andrew (and Fergie) bombshells to come.”
There will be plenty for the royals to discuss during their summer break to Balmoral.
King Charles is continuing on the traditional holiday at the Scottish retreat that was a favourite for the late Queen.
William and Kate are believed to be heading up to spend some time there and so too will be Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to have turned down an invite.

Tripura Sends Team To India-Bangladesh Border Amid Concerns Over Embankments

Guwahati:
A high-level delegation on Sunday visited the border town of Belonia and conducted an on the spot study, and possible effects on the Indian side due to an embankment being constructed by the Bangladesh government along the Muhuri River, which divides the two countries.
The delegation led by Tripura Public Works Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, after visiting the India-Bangladesh bordering areas, met villagers and held meetings with elected representatives, including the chairman of the Belonia Municipal Council.
Later, Mr Gitte said that to protect the South Tripura district headquarter Belonia, adjoining villages and habitations, embankments are being constructed and other measures have been taken up and the ongoing works would be intensified.
“By June this year, all the repairing and related works would be completed. Work would be done round-the-clock. As the volume of work is very big in South Tripura district, five additional engineers would be posted in the district,” Mr Gitte said.
During catastrophic floods and landslides in August 2024, many river embankments along the India-Bangladesh border and other infrastructure were damaged. The government identified 43 such locations in different districts, including South Tripura district, the IAS officer said.
He said the works to repair infrastructure will be started soon. Senior Border Security Force (BSF) officers were also present.
The Bangladesh government has been constructing another big embankment along Southern Tripura, opposite Belonia town, triggering tension among Indian residents as the embankment may endanger border villages during monsoon floods.
Residents under Belonia Municipal Council areas and those living in Ballamukh, Ishan Chandranagar and adjoining villages in South Tripura district have expressed serious concerns over the construction of the giant embankment by Bangladesh.
Earlier, similar embankments were built by the Bangladesh government along northern Tripura’s Unakoti district. That may also put the district town of Kailashahar and border villages during monsoon floods in danger.
