Roger Taylor unveils Freddie Mercury’s 8 blunt words that kept Queen from splitting up | Music | Entertainment

Before Freddie Mercury’s untimely death in 1991, Queen had spent two decades performing and recording their global hits together. Although they didn’t always get on and fought as brothers would, unlike other rock bands of their era, they never split up.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor puts this down specifically to Freddie Mercury’s emotional intelligence, as revealed in a brand new interview. The 76-year-old appeared alongside his wife in his first-ever podcast appearance on I’m ADHD! No You’re Not, hosted by Paul Whitehouse and his wife, Dr Mine Conkbayir.

Roger was asked what the most emotionally intelligent thing Freddie understood about human beings that people really still don’t fully appreciate.

The drummer replied: “Good question but I can only talk about the human condition in the context of the band really. He realised that we all needed one another for the chemistry to work. And I think it was at some point in the ‘80s that he was the one that… because there was always arguments about, ‘Oh, I’ve got this song. It should be the single. what gets on the album?, etc etc.”

“And he was the one that said, ‘Look, let’s just put all this to bed and [have] everything written by all of us, and so it’s equal shares.” And he got that. He completely got that, and he realised that we were a band. It wasn’t Fred and the others.”

Roger then shared those blunt eight words that kept Queen stuck together.

He added: “It was… And he’d always say that, he says, ‘Don’t call me the leader. I’m the singer.’ I think that really came across as well, because of course he’s a towering sort of presence”

I’m ADHD! No You’re Not is available on all podcast platforms every Thursday.

How to buy Paul McCartney tickets for special London event | Music | Entertainment

The Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney has dropped a few major announcements over the past week. First, he released The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, a brand new album centred around his youth, while also bringing that McCartney charm once again.

After that, he announced a Special In Conversation Event. This once-in-a-lifetime occurrence will bring Macca to the stage at Roundhouse, London, in just the next few days. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the star will reflect on the making of this album “from its earliest beginnings”, through the recording process and beyond. And tickets for this exciting event were released this week, but for those who missed out, there are still more left over. Below, we’ve detailed exactly what fans need to know.

Sir Paul McCartney tickets for his The Boys Of Dungeon Lane event were released on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

These were released on major ticketing websites, including Live Nation and Ticketmaster. But, as predicted, many of these tickets sold out in absolutely no time.

It’s no wonder, considering the Fab Four star rarely enjoys public events. Thankfully, there’s another way to get involved, as well.

Paul McCartney tickets can still be purchased from resale markets, as well. Right now, viagogo and StubHub have plenty of tickets on sale.

They are priced at around £400 each; however, they are currently the only chance to get them.

Here are the links to all available ticketing websites:

Ahead of the release of Paul McCartney’s new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, the 83-year-old star hosted a string of exclusive listening events in both Los Angeles and London.

Here, fans were given the first chance to listen to the brand new record.

The album is his first in six years, following his 2020 composition McCartney III.
