Meghan Markle now wears beige clothes not to ‘blend in’, expert claims

Published

on

, 42, recently wore a camel-coloured matching set consisting of a from the Malibu-based brand Bleusal.

This was for a video to support the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, in which she was joined by her husband Prince Harry, 38.

And when the mother-of-two was a senior working royal, she used neutral-coloured clothing – which have since been dubbed “sad beige” on social media- as an effort to “blend in” with the Royal Family.

In Meghan and Harry’s 2022 documentary, the Duchess explained: “When I was in the UK I rarely wore colour.

“I wore a lot of muted tones… I also wore it so I could just blend in. I’m not trying to stand out here. I don’t want to embarrass the family.”

Bethan Holt, a fashion director, claimed there is another explanation for why Meghan favours “sad beige” after stepping-down from being a senior working royal.

Ms Holt observed that although Meghan would be able to wear any colour of her choosing after relocating to California, beige continues to be the norm as a sign of her celebrity status.

Writing for The Telegraph, she explained: “Where beige was once a tool for Meghan to blend in, it’s now a hallmark of her alignment with the 0.01 percent.

“Beige speaks of private jets, dry cleaners and generally never having to do anything that could risk a smudge or a stain.”

Despite beige being a predictable choice for the Duchess, Ms Holt argued that this recent appearance of Meghan was different for a key reason.

She continued: “Her hair isn’t as perfectly groomed as normal – in fact it looks like she might have just returned from a walk on the beach and her make-up is designed to look natural and healthy.

“So perhaps Harry and Meghan have moved on from their ‘quiet luxury’ beige era and are now in their ‘we’re concentrating on a simple life’ beige chapter.

“Meghan might once have said she wore the shade because she’s ‘not trying to stand out here’ but somehow the message is anything but that.”

One of Meghan’s most iconic beige looks was her when she was still a royal fiancé.

The Duchess opted for a Sentaler Long Wide-Collar Wrap Coat, which is still available to buy for a whopping £1,418.95.

Meghan paired this beige coat with brown accessories, including a bespoke Philip Treacy hat, Stuart Weitzman boots and Marks and Spencer leather gloves.

Underneath the coat, Meghan’s dress was actually a burgundy velvet colour and was from the label Club Monaco.

‘Great’ £30 Regatta mules shoppers want in ‘every colour’

Once seen as a summer slip-on, the mule has become a cold-weather favourite thanks to its easy, pull-on design and the rise of cosy, shearling-lined styles. One pair currently turning heads is a reduced pair from Regatta, now on sale for £30 from £50.

Despite the affordable price, the Regatta mules don’t skimp on comfort. They’re lined with warm faux fur for a snug, insulated feel, while an open-cell foam insole provides cushioned underfoot comfort. A grippy PVC outsole offers reliable traction on wet pavements, and the angled lugs help maintain steady footing in slippery winter conditions.

Style hasn’t been compromised, either. The stitched detailing gives them a premium feel, and they come in four versatile colourways – black, brown, grey and taupe beige – making them an easy everyday winter staple.

There are plenty of ways to style the Risley Waterproof Mules. Pair them with thick, ribbed socks, black leggings, and an oversized puffer for a practical yet put-together winter outfit.

Otherwise, for a more elevated vibe, style them with straight-leg jeans, a fine-knit jumper and a wool coat. They could even work for the office; a simple turtleneck and structured coat will complement them perfectly for a comfortable yet smart look.

Besides Regatta, Columbia also offers these Women’s Snowtrot Unwind Mules (£70). They feature 100g insulation, a soft fleece interior, and a thermal reflective lining to keep feet warm when temperatures drop.

Alternatively, for something more stylish than practical, the Crocs Unfurgettable Clogs (now £45, down from £60) might be worth a look. In a brown leopard print, they’re a bold choice but are sure to earn some compliments when out and about.

Moving on to the Risley Waterproof Mules, they’ve received numerous positive reviews from shoppers. This person shared: “Comfortable, waterproof, warm. Would really recommend these.”

Meanwhile, a second chimed in: “Love these. My daughter wants them in every colour. Same as UGGs but waterproof.”

And someone else said: “Comfortable, waterproof, and warm, very roomy as well, so you don’t need thick socks, take a bit of time to get used to walking in, but once you’re used to them, they are great winter shoes.”

However, they noted: “I had an issue with the stitching coming away, but Regatta were great and refunded me, so I purchased another pair and these are fine.”

This Risley Waterproof Mules fan said: “I am very happy with my mules. They are very comfy.” And someone else piped up: “Really nice to wear.”

Shoppers looking to update their beauty regime can do so with a money-saving deal at Debenhams. The reatailer has reduced the Clarins 12 Day Advent Calendar, that typically retails for £95, down to £76. This 20% discount beats the price of the beauty advent calendar at Boots and on the Clarins website, where it is still full price.

This year’s Clarins Advent Calendar is filled with 12 products, including a full size Beauty Flash Balm and a full size Lip Comfort Oil. At Boots these items would set shoppers back £65 if there were to be purchased individually, but the deal means they are essentially £12.60 for both.

The entire contents of the Clarins Advent Calendar is £167, featuring some of Clarins’ most-loved items. Noteably, a travel-size Clarins Lip Perfector in the shade Soft Pink Glow is included. Princess Kate fans may know the royal wore this lip balm during Wimbledon in 2019 and it may still be a product she uses to achieve her natural makeup look.

Clarins customers are calling the 12 day advent calendar ‘absolute indulgent luxury’ and many are snapping one up to gift a loved one this festive season. One reviewer wrote: “I treated myself to this fabulous advent calendar. The treats inside were just what I wanted and some new items which I am delighted with. Very happy with my purchase. I think I may also purchase one for my daughter as a Christmas gift.”

Some shoppers may be dissapointed that ten of the twelve items in the Clarins advent calendar are mini, however, this does make them practical for travel. Alternatively, the Liz Earle 12 Days Beauty Advent Calendar is £76 and contains five full size products. This includes a full size Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and a Superskin Moisturiser.

At Space NK, the 12 Days of Fragrance Advent Calendar is worth £558 but retails for £160. It includes perfumes from Acqua Di Parma, Diptyque, Maison Margiela and more.

Back to the Clarins 12 Day Advent Calendar, customers are leaving top reviews. A loyal fan of the brand wrote: “Great Christmas gift, this is the 3rd year I’ve bought the Clarins advent calendar, definitely the best after trying a number of others, no contest, worth every penny.”

A second person said: “Awesome product. Last years was excellent, great products and surprises behind the doors, and looking at the pictures of this years I won’t be dissapointed. Can’t wait.”

And a third commented: “Wow. What a beautiful advent calendar. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these beautiful treasures. Such great value and a perfect selection of treasures to try.”

61p-a-day supplement leaves skin ‘plumper’ with ‘less wrinkles’

Shoppers are singing the praises of a vegan supplement that claims to make skin appear clearer, smoother and more youthful – and it currently costs £21.24, down from £24.99. Better still, the Skin Saviour from Dr Vegan now comes with an additional discount when new customers use the code SKIN25, bringing it down to £18.24 for one pouch – that’s just 61p per day for the two tablet dosage.

It cannot be combined with any other offer. According to Dr Vegan, as we age, natural collagen production decreases, which can lead to wrinkles, sagging and fragility. Women experience an even steeper decline during menopause due to falling oestrogen levels, making collagen support particularly crucial. This is where Skin Saviour comes in – an award-winning supplement that works from within to promote clearer, brighter and healthier looking skin, according to the brand.

The daily tablets are designed to boost the body’s natural collagen production and are powered by a vegan formula enriched with Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, prebiotics, live cultures and antioxidants to help improve elasticity, hydration and radiance.

Each capsule of Skin Saviour – which was created alongside nutritionists – contains five billion gut-friendly bacteria, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, which research suggests supports both gut and skin health, helping with issues such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. By strengthening the skin from the inside out, Skin Saviour aims to deliver a naturally plumper, smoother and more even complexion, reports the Mirror.

The website advises that the two capsules should be taken consistently in the morning or evening for at least 60 days, with users expected to ‘see results within 30 days’. They can be consumed with or without food, but should be taken at least 20 minutes before or after hot food or drink.

There are other supplements available that can also help to enhance the health and appearance of the skin. MyProtein, for example, offers Collagen Capsules 90 Tablets for £7.49 on its website. These are filled with ‘naturally occurring bovine type 1 collagen’ designed to enhance and maintain natural levels and should be taken once daily.

Holland and Barrett offer their Bovine Collagen 3000mg 180 Tablets for £31.99 on their site. This product is said to contain vitamin C for healthy skin, contribute to collagen formation and help maintain existing collagen.

The Dr Vegan Skin Saviour tablets have received high ratings on its website from customers. One customer wrote: “My skin feels plumper, wrinkles reducing… just like the advert described! Am delighted.”

Another commented: “The bags under my eyes have virtually disappeared! And smoothed out some fine lines! Love this product.”

Some others gave it four stars for reasons such as: “Good service from Dr Vegan however it’s a bit too soon to see any results from the capsules.”

Another stated: “I’ve been taking Skin Saviour for two months. There has been a slight improvement to my skin. Will continue.”

However, the majority of users were pleased. Another user enthused: “The combination of ingredients in this product appears to have improved my hair, my skin, my IBS and my mood. I would recommend this product whole heartedly.”
