Uniqlo’s latest trending bag looks a lot like a designer

Uniqlo has become a go-to for stylish yet sturdy and affordable basics, not least its bag selection. You’ve probably seen the viral Uniqlo crossbody shoulder bag, a £15 half-circle pouch that has been lauded thanks to its versatile design and ability to store way more than you might expect.
Now, the brand has upped its game with the release of a new trendy bag that is very similar to a designer alternative – but is almost £600 cheaper.
The unisex rectangular shoulder bag has caused something of a buzz among fashion enthusiasts, including my partner, who is a fan of streetwear (and a bit of a fiend for a designer label). “I spotted the Uniqlo item in a sponsored advert on Instagram before it had been released,” he explained. “It looked like the type of thing I was after and reminded me of a bag by the brand Porter.”
For the uninitiated, Porter is a Japanese brand housed under Yoshida & Co., known for its bags inspired by military MA-1 bomber jackets. Along with their nylon exterior, they can also be recognised from the small rectangular patch sewn onto them with the brand name “Porter”.
My partner, who has requested to remain anonymous, explained: “I’d always liked them, but they seem way too expensive.”
The trendy Porter Tanker bags retail anywhere from £200 to £620, so it’s no surprise the £24.90 alternative caught his eye.
The other issue with the Porter bag is that it can be quite hard to source in the UK. Retailers, including END and Ssense, stock the brand, but they can sell out quickly. If not, you have to turn to re-sell sites such as eBay and Vinted. Both the khaki and black versions of Uniqlo’s Multi Pocket Shoulder Bag are currently available on the website.
The Uniqlo option offers a similar colour scheme, coming in both khaki and black. It also has two rectangular front pockets whose placement almost mirrors that of the Porter Tanker.
Both bags also feature a zip opening and adjustable strap. Perhaps the only significant difference is that the Uniqlo option has cheaper-looking hardware and a slightly darker khaki colour. Of course, even if you’re not bothered about designer names, it’s still a great purchase thanks to its versatility, taking you from the office to a casual day out with ease.
“It can fit a 13-inch Macbook, has good compartments and would fit all my daily essentials,” my partner told me.
Each day, he has been able to pack his MacBook and charger, along with his wallet, a book, lunch, aftershave, and his wallet. Handy dividers in the main compartment can be used to protect tech items, such as a laptop or hard drive, while internal side pockets are good for storing any smaller goods.
Keys, a phone, and headphones can be popped into one of the front zipped compartments, while a water bottle slots nearly into the side storage area. Even then, there is still room left over. “Perhaps the only downside is that I wouldn’t be able to fit in anything from the supermarket on my way home,” he added.
“I like the cross-body style over a tote bag so I can have my hands free, making walking comfortable or even cycling into work. It still isn’t as comfortable as cycling with a backpack, but it’s a lot more stylish.”

Kate Garraway’s stylish polka dot outfit is in the sale

A timeless classic, the polka-dot print adds a bit of elegance to any summer look. Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway recently showed fashion fans an easy way to rock the pattern this season.
The TV presenter was pictured wearing Boden’s Mila Top, which features a navy polka-dot print against an ivory fabric, and LK Bennett’s Elsie Trousers – showcasing white spots on a cream background. To finish the look, she added a pair of gold-coloured platform sandals.
Kate’s Boden Mila top is a new season style at £42, but fans can get 15% off and purchase it at £35.70, meanwhile the LK Bennett Elsie Trousers are reduced to £159.20 (was £199) in a site-wide 20% off sale.
The Boden Mila top features flutter sleeves and is made from lightweight cotton that works well for the summer months.
In a glowing review, one shopper said: “This is a lovely top – can look smart or casual depending what you wear it with. Really good quality cotton and well made.” And a second echoed: “Beautiful soft cotton T-shirt made of very high quality. I go between size 14 and 16 in other brands. Size 14 fit perfectly. I would buy this in every colour.”
But a shopper mentioned the ‘shoulders did not flatter’, explaining: “I am narrow shouldered and this top made me look bulky and top heavy. It’s a shame as the fabric was perfect for the summer.”
The polka dot print top is fast selling online however there are other options elsewhere such as Next’s Black/White Spot Sheer Short Sleeve Smock Top, £32, which is crafted from airy, lightweight chiffon-like fabric.
The Roman Ivory Textured Spot Stretch Top is on sale, currently reduced from £26 to £10. The hip-length T-shirt features a contrasting banding on the neck for a chic touch.
Moving on to Kate’s trousers, the Elsie trousers are crafted from a navy satin crepe blend with viscose, and adorned with polka dots in cream. They come in a fit-and-flare style that is perfect for smart casual settings. Shoppers can pair it with the Boden top just like Kate, or get a more refined look by styling it with a tailored blazer.
Elsewhere, shoppers can consider the New Look Black Spot Print Wide Leg Trousers. Retailing at £29.99, these feature a contrasting white spot print and two practical side pockets.
Finery’s Nat Navy Polka Dot Wide Leg Trousers, £39, are perfect to wear on office days or weekend outings, costing £39. One customer said the item is ‘well made’ and has a ‘true to size fit’.

Debenhams slashes 96% off ‘pure luxury’ watch

Debenhams has slashed the price of a watch that shoppers are calling “sophisticated” and “pure luxury.” The GV2 Bari Diamond Watch is now available with a staggering 97% discount. According to Debenhams, it was originally priced at £5,495 but has been marked down to just £183.75.
According to the online retailer, this timepiece boasts a “sophisticated rectangular mother-of-pearl dial” adorned with “eighteen glittering diamond indices.” And comes complete with a “beautiful pumpkin crown” and a “diamond-cut bezel case.”
For those in search of a similar style, watch for personal indulgence or as a gift, there are other options to consider. The GV2 Padova Women’s Watch is on offer at Secret Sales for £192.50, which is 93% off its regular price, reports The Mirror.
Alternatively, Argos has the Sekonda Monica Women Two Tone Bracelet Watch for £64.99, and ASOS offers a silver version for £59.99.
A delighted Debenhams customer praised the discounted GV2 Bari Diamond Watch, exclaiming: “Pure luxury in a fantastic presentation box! Lovely in every aspect was so excited to open and even more excited to wear! It has really good weight to it and face is easy to read to tell exact time. Had several compliments on wearing.”
A second enthused: “I absolutely love the watch, high quality, gorgeous finish.”
A third commented: “This watch is beautifully made and although nothing like the proposed price I consider it a really attractive timepiece and certainly very pretty.”
Another was pleasantly surprised: “Really nice watch for the money and can’t believe how good it is.”
A fourth shared their delight: “I’m in love with this watch, from the dial to the strap. The watch strap is so easy to use as it’s a double fastening. Looks very good on. Thought I’d treat myself and was very pleased when it arrived. Comes in a very smart box with a certificate for the diamonds.”
Some customers mentioned the need to adjust the strap for a better fit. One customer remarked: “Love the watch looks lovely on really pleased with it had to have a few links taken out of the bracelet as I’ve got skinny wrists but it’s perfect.”
Another noted: “My wife loves it [but] had to have one link taken out.”
However, not all feedback was glowing, with one critic pointing out: “Nice watch but too thick and feels heavy on.”
someone else added: “Very nice watch but extremely heavy and large bracelet. Had it adjusted by a jeweller.”
Nonetheless, the majority of reviews were glowing. One satisfied customer stated: “Really nice watch, purchased for my wife and she loved it, comes with a warranty card and precious jewel card for authenticity.”
Another enthused: “Received on time, a remarkable piece of jewellery, real quality through and through.”

Ruth Langsford’s ‘hydrating’ eye masks are reduced on Amazon

Ruth Langsford has been sharing her must-have skincare products to social media and one item that she loves to use on repeat is these Jelly Eye Patches from Nip+Fab.
Formulated to plump and rehydrate under-eyes, the patches work to revive tired, puffy skin in just 15 minutes, and they’re great to use before a special event. Currently on offer at Amazon, a box of 20 pairs is now reduced to £15.96 from £19.95.
The Nip+Fab Jelly Patches are formulated with hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin and reduce dryness instantly, tremella (also known as snow mushroom) to tackle fine lines and wrinkles, and polyglutamic acid which holds four times more water than hyaluronic acid.
Elsewhere on Charlotte Tilbury, the Hollywood Skin Secrets Immediate Eye Revival Patches, £58, are packed with Bio-Smooth Eye Contour Complex to depuff and hydrate under-eyes in 10 minutes.
ESPA Isotonic Hydra Gel Eye Masks are formulated with minerals, antioxidants and natural extracts that help plump, brighten, and soothe tired eyes. Shoppers can get them at Next, where they cost £36.50.
Ruth explained that the jelly patches made her fall in love with Nip+Fab and she has even partnered with the brand to test out other products. In a recent post on Instagram, she said: “I just want to talk to you about this Nip+Fab, I was introduced to this brand by my make-up artist who’s using this on me. It’s lovely, hydrating jelly eye patches that you might have seen me, on Instagram, the bright green ones under my eyes.”
The jelly patches have also gained approval from shoppers on Amazon, earning them an overall 4.4 out of five average star-rating. One said: “I have super sensitive eyes and wear contact lenses and these don’t cause any irritation or stinging, even if very close to the waterline.”
A second shared her tip: “I pop these right at the back of my fridge so they are extra cold, once on they stay cold for at least 20 plus minutes they are also thick but not too thick unlike others I’ve used are really thin and slip off, my eyes feel refreshed after using these.”
However, one questioned the efficacy of the patches and penned: “Still early days they seem to leave my under eye feeling smooth, however I could only really lie down when applied as they just slide down your face, which if you’re busy and multi-tasking, it isn’t great.”
Another said the masks aren’t ‘particularly hydrating’ and ‘slide significantly’. But someone else added: “Love these eye patches. Really hydrating for under eye skin and smoothes out those fine lines.”
